Orion Financial has a rich history of growth and transformation, from its humble beginnings in 1957 to becoming a financial leader in the Mid-South.
1957
A group of Memphis City Schools teachers pooled $300 to create a shared resource, laying the foundation for what would become Orion Federal Credit Union.
2010
Daniel Weickenand became President and CEO, guiding the credit union through financial challenges and positioning it for future growth.
2011
The credit union rebranded from Memphis Area Teacher Credit Union (MATCU) to Orion Federal Credit Union, reflecting its broader vision and evolving role in the community.
2019
Orion moved its headquarters to the historic Wonder Bread factory, revitalizing the Edge District and reinforcing our connection to the community.
2025
Ashley McDurmon is appointed as President and CEO, leading Orion into a new era of leadership and innovation.
