As teachers return to the classroom, some Shelby County Schools will find a sweet treat for their faculty from Orion Federal Credit Union.

Orion was originally founded by a group of Memphis teachers in 1957 and continues to serve Shelby County Schools today. Orion welcomes SCS teachers back to the classroom by donating cookies to every teacher in all of their adopted schools in the Memphis metro area.

“We understand it’s been an unusual year—especially for teachers and students in our community.  We wanted to extend a bit of encouragement as teachers return to the classroom after teaching virtually for most of the year.  Everyone likes Girl Scout Cookies, so we partnered with the Girl Scouts to make the return a little sweeter,” stated Casey Condra, Orion Chief Marketing Officer.

Orion is a committed community partner and has spent over 60 years sharing profits with their members and the community. The Orion Gives Back Program supports many local non-profits and encourages Orion employees to volunteer and serve their community. Orion supports the Girl Scouts Heart of the South and their programming to develop important life and financial skills through goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

“We are grateful to Orion for supporting the Girl Scout Cookie Program and our teachers.  Community partnerships make it possible for us to continue to develop programs that engage girls to try new activities, develop leadership skills and learn about giving back to their communities,” said Girl Scouts Heart of the South CEO Melanie Schild.
